Service & Civic Engagement

Empty Bowls

Empty Bowls is a national movement that raises awareness about hunger and advocates for the support of agencies that seek to eliminate hunger in our local and global communities.  For more information about the project, please visit www.emptybowls.net

The Center for Service & Civic Engagement holds this event every October to raise awareness and support for the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia.  Each event has a CanSculpture Contest and student painted bowls for sell. 

ODU Empty Bowls 2011 will be the 3rd Annual CanSculpture on October 13, 2011!

CanSculpture Past Results!

2011:

CanSculpture 2011 participants donated 3,194 pounds of food to the Food Bank of Southeastern VA!

Congratulations to our CanSculpture 2011 contest winners, Alpha Xi Delta, Sigma Nu and the Fashion Association!

 2010:

CanSculpture 2010 participants donated over 2,000 pounds of food to the Food Bank of Southeastern VA!  The Empty Bowls bowl sale raised over $600 to feed local children.
