GLBTQA Resources
GLBTQA is an acronym meaning ” gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and allies”. It is a blanket term for all issues concerning these groups of people.
Supported Programs
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Cultural Month is October. In the past, this month has been highlighted with a film festival and noted speakers such as author Jim Gladstone. The focus is on implementation of programs, activities and events for the Old Dominion community and the surrounding Hampton Roads area that reflect the richness of the GLBT community and its positive impact on our society.
The Safe Space Program
The Safe Space Training Program was created through the Division of Student Affairs to reduce homophobia/transphobia and heterosexism on the Old Dominion University campus. ODU faculty and students can volunteer to take the training to become more aware and sensitive to LGBTQA issues at the university.
